What is a Ripple?

A Ripple is created when you complete a small profile and share us with everyone you know. Each of your friends who join your Ripple will also tell their friends who will continue to spread the word about this easy way to support the planet. You'll create a Ripple of Giving in a unique way found nowhere else on the web. How do I grow my ripple?

Besides giving often to your favorite Causes, you can grow your Ripple by inviting all your friends and businesses that you frequent to join your Ripple. Help friends find and join your Ripple by scattering your Ripple's unique banners across the web. (These links are found by clicking the "Ripple's Banners" link located under the "Grow Your Ripple" tab while logged in.) Grab your unique Vanity URL to make it easier for your friends to remember how to find you (more about this below) and to activate the Facebook share button which allows you to post your profile to your wall.

How much money can I contribute to my Ripple?

You can give as much as you'd like and as often as you wish. We'll track it all forever. Keep in mind, spreading the word about RippleLife.org to your friends and growing the number of people in your Ripple can really add up. (Each transaction total needs to be at least $10 USD and can divided up among several Causes if you wish.)

Who can join my Ripple?

Anyone who does not already belong to someone else's Ripple can join yours, except for RippleLife Supported Causes.

How do I join someone else's Ripple?

1) Click on the link in an invitation email sent to you by a friend, then click "Join My Ripple" or "Join Our Ripple" at the top of their profile. Confirm you want to join this friend's Ripple during the registration process.

2) Search for your friend's email address, Rippler ID, or Vanity Name in the search box located in the "Rippler" section. Click on the green "Join My Ripple" or "Join Our Ripple" button at the top of their profile.

3) If RippleLife.org doesn't recognize the Ripple you're trying to join during the registration process, you'll be prompted to manually enter the email address or Rippler ID of the person's Ripple you'd like to join. If you don't know either, just click continue and you can find them later using option #2 above.

4) Choose a Ripple to join by browsing our individual and business Ripplers.

Can I create a Ripple as both an individual and a business?

You can join as both an individual and business Rippler but must use different email addresses for each. Remember, people can only join one Ripple so take this into consideration when sending out invitations through our website.

Can I switch from an individual Rippler to a business Rippler (or vice versa)?

Sorry, this cannot be done. But you can join again using a different email. But, keep in mind friends in one Ripple can not be transferred to a different Ripple.

If I invite a friend, can they still join someone else's Ripple?

Multiple Ripplers can invite any one of your friends. It's up to your friends to decide which Ripple they join. Since a person can only join one Ripple, do your best to inspire your friends to join yours.

Can I support a cause not on your list?

If you have a cause you would like to support but they're not on our list, contact them and ask them to join our site!

When do RippleLife.org causes collect donations made to them?

Can a Cause give to another Cause?

No, not at this time. Only individuals and businessess are able to give to Causes.

Can Causes participate in the Ripple Ranking program or be showcased in the Biggest Ripples section?

Causes are currently not able to participate in either.

What does the "This email has joined" in my Pending Friends tab mean?

Multiple Ripplers can invite any individual friend. It's up to your friends to decide which Ripple they join. If you see this message, there are a handful of actions that may have occurred. 1) Your friend has arrived at RippleLife outside of your special invitation link and used a different email from the one you invited with. If this has occurred, ask your friend to visit your profile and click on the "Join My Ripple" or "Join Our Ripple" button located at the top of your profile. 2) Your friend has joined another Rippler's Ripple instead. Click on the " MOVE UP THIS RIPPLE" link at the top of your friend's profile to see which Ripple your friend has joined. (If you do not see this link, your friend is still free to join yours.) 3) The person you invited joined as a Cause. Causes cannot belong to a Ripple. You can tell if they are a Cause, as they will be listed in the Causes section. It will also say "Cause Name" in their profile.

How do I see which Ripple someone belongs to (including myself)?

Look for " MOVE UP THIS RIPPLE" in the top of any profile. If you don't see this link then this Rippler does not belong to a Ripple and is still free to join one.

I don't see the "Join My Ripple" or "Join Our Ripple" button... why?

If you do not see this button at the top of a Rippler's profile, it's because you belong to someone else's Ripple already (most are asked to approve which Ripple they join during registration). Once you are part of someone else's Ripple, this link will no longer be visible to you. Instead, you should see " MOVE UP THIS RIPPLE" in the top right of your profile displaying which Ripple you belong to. If you are a Cause, you will not see these buttons because Causes are not able to "Join" a Ripple.

I didn't receive any emails from RippleLife after creating a Ripple?

There's always the chance that your email account's spam settings did not allow our emails through. This doesn't mean that you are not in our system. You may want to check your email account's Spam/Bulk folder. Add RippleLife.org as a safe email to receive. (In some cases, you may have to add our domain name (ripplelife.org) to your safe list depending on how strict your settings are.)

Can I contact (or be contacted by) other Ripplers?

It is not possible to contact other Ripplers, even if they are in your Ripple. As a Rippler, other Ripplers cannot contact you as well. If we ever allow Ripplers to contact each other through our website, you will have control over whether you participate in these features.

How does the Ripple Ranking work?

A Ripple Ranking is based upon 5 levels (1 - 5) determined by how many friends you get to join your Ripple AND the amount you give to Causes (see chart). Ripplers who reach 5 stars become our cherished RippleLife Ambassadors. It's an awesome way to tangibly display you environmental efforts and get valuable recognition within RippleLife's media world.

What are the benefits of achieving higher star levels?

Besides loving Earth, striving for higher star levels is just one more opportunity for you to display your amazing environmental stewardship. In fact, many of our Ripplers tell us that the amounts they are able to raise for the planet are amounts they could never donate themselves. We'll also be working with sponsors to provide cool gifts for those who reach various levels.

What's it mean to become a RippleLife Ambassador?

Our RippleLife Ambassadors are our ultimate supporters! They've gone the extra mile in spreading our name and inspiring many people to create and grow a Ripple of their own. Our Ambassadors LOVE the RippleLife concept and being able to tangibly showcase the change they're creating.

What is a vanity URL?

A Vanity URL is your Ripple's web address. You can use this to help your friends find and join your Ripple. You must create this in your profile while logged in.

How do I get my Vanity URL?

Login. You will see a “Action Required! Customize URL ” button in the "Grow Your Ripple" tab. Choose wisely since the name you select can not be changed.

Can I choose whatever name I want as my Vanity URL?

Your choice should be related to your name in some form and must not infringe upon a company's trade name or trademark (we reserve the right to reject or revoke any names). You can use letters A – Z or numbers 0 – 9 as your character choices.

Once I choose my Vanity URL, can it be changed?

No. We ask that you to confirm your choice twice and inform you that it cannot be changed ever. If you no longer like it, you can always use your Rippler ID # URL (www.ripplelife.org/YourRipplerID).

What if I want to create (and use) my own graphic banners to attract friends to my Ripple?

Perfect! We welcome this kind of artistic creativity! Just use the proper code we provide you to bring people to your Ripple.

What is the importance of using the proper code attached to the banners?

Our system uses this code to guide your friends to your Ripple!
